ÿ Transferring IDA to a new computer
- Go to idaassistant.com and download IDA on the new computer.
- Once the program is purchased, click on “Download IDA” in the links menu. Their browser will most likely stop the download from happening automatically. A yellow bar will appear at the top of the page. Click on the yellow bar and select “Download File.” This will download the installer. Then, when the installer download box select “Run.” After a minute the installer itself will pop up. When it does, keep hitting “Next” until it starts the install. Once the install has finished, click the IDA Icon on their desktop to open IDA.
- When IDA opens for the first time you will need to register it. To register IDA, select “Register.” Enter the agent’s first and last name and company name. Enter the serial number in the space provided. Please Note: You will need to contact Support to let them know that all of your license files need to be unlocked because you are moving IDA. - Once you enter the serial number, click “Register.” A new popup will appear asking how you would like to register. Select “Register Online” and hit “Continue.”
- Next, it will ask you if you are a new agent or returning agent. Select Returning Agent with Data Sync or with a Backup file.
With Data Sync: Enter username and password; click “Get Account Info.” Once it says “Account in Good Standing,” click the button that says “Import.” This will cause all of the backed up data to import.
With Backup File: You will be prompted to locate the file. Select the file and import it.
- Once this is finished click “Start Step.”
- You will need to add your plugins back into IDA. In Desktop Settings click on "Plugin Manager" You will need to add your plugins back as well as register them all with their serial #'s. The serial #'s can be found by logging into www.idaassistant.com and then up in the top right corner, click on your name. In that page everything that you have purchased from our website will be listed there as well as serial #'s.
